We have a bucket list of things we always wanted to do on the East Coast and decided to start doing them (only 7 years after we moved here:)!
This Christmas break seemed like a great time to visit DC.
It was the best vacation we've ever had as a family.
We took the DC Metro everywhere we went. It was very fun!
The boys loved riding the "train."
This was our first stop. We were lost right from the beginning, but quickly found out we were at the EPA (oh great-give them a piece of my mind, haha). There are so many "departments" in DC, it is nuts. The US Institution of Peace? Ever heard of it? So many like that. You look around DC and it almost makes you sick to see how many tax dollars are wasted every day. Anyway, back to the vacation.
We went and saw "Obama's House" as Cedric called it.
Then on to the Washington Monument.
Here is the WWII memorial. We didn't see this the last time we were here, so it was very cool to see.
They had some of these plaques all around and this one was my favorite. You can't really see it in the picture, but the artist sculpted their faces to show their emotions so well. Some of them were ready to just jump out of the plane and others in the back looked so scared.
Cedric "teaching" Gabe. We are still not sure what Cedric was talking to him about, but it was so cute. He went over to Gabe and put his arms around him and started talking.
The wall has 4,048 gold stars, each representing 100 Americans who died in the war. In front of the wall lies the message "Here we mark the price of freedom".
Martin Luther King Memorial. It was a neat opportunity to talk about what he did for civil rights. They had a lot of his quotes on the walls.
Lincoln Memorial
Vietnam Memorial - Just blows me away. So grateful for sacrifices that were made and are still being made for our country.
