We shall remember this summer as our summer away from home, but not because we wanted to be! We were reroofing our house on July 5th and a South Carolina thunderstorm popped up and it rained like crazy inside and outside our house.
While it doesn't look like much, they had to put a big hole in our ceiling and pull out all the insulation. Then we had to put big fans/dehumidifiers in for a few days to dry out everything in the kitchen.
This is the hall area between the boy's bedrooms. A lot of water got here. The molding around the doors got wet and it all swelled up and the paint is ruined there too. The boy's bedrooms got water in the ceiling and so did the bathroom. That all has to be repainted.
We scrambled around inside the house putting buckets on the ground to keep water off the floor and then walked out to the garage to find this! It was the only place where the ceiling totally fell. The van was fine. You can see our electrical box is right there and it got drenched, so we had to replace breakers.
We finally got approval from insurance. Today some contractors are putting new drywall up. This weekend some painters are going to come and put the popcorn stuff on the ceiling and repaint. We have to get 2 new cabinets and some new countertop where my desk is in the kitchen. We are crossing our fingers we will be home next week. We are so grateful we have Randy and Vickie's house to stay in, but there is no place like home!
Oh my goodness, just hearing the story was crazy. But, to see the pictures along with it, is devastating . I am so sorry you are STILL going through this. I am glad you are getting things finally going to get it fixed. You are troopers!!! love you
