We had a sad passing this last weekend of Tyson's Grandpa Peterson. I thought this poem describe him best and paid such a great tribute to him. Our talented brother-in-law Blaine wrote it, it is very cool:
"As we gather here this day, to honor this man that has just passed away,
We honor the life that has blessed us all, the life of a man who lived to play and watch ball
If the Jazz were on- well, time stood still and getting him to leave the t.v. was definitely a thrill.
His passion for cars is something to note, from sports cars to caddies, to the pumkin tune boat.
He had such a passion for this life and loved it almost as much as his sweet wife.
She made him complete and kept him free, that's why he'll be with her for all eternity.
He was confident, honest and humble as a mouse, but I guess you'd have to be in order to live in a pink house.
He was a lumberjack, truck driver, and a realtor too, while attending the college of Hard Knox his whole life through.
He led by example, patience and love as did his Savior of whom dwells above.
The desire he had to be with loved ones can still be found with his four daughters and a son
His spirit and spunk could not be denied, for he demonstrated it right up 'til he died
As a father, grandfather, and a great one too, he was a pillar of light that in darkness would shine through.
So as we meet here today to mourn and celebrate too, and share these words of which justice does not do.
Know this from a daughter who is feeling the pain, that we know we'll be together to live again.
So Father in Heaven as we give you our dad, please let him remember the good times we had.
Watch over him now as he enters the door, and keep him well until we are together once more."
The funeral was so great. He was a great man. It was wonderful to spend time with the Smith/Peterson family. We had a great time together. We are so sorry we did not get to see everybody (but we will see you in 4 weeks!). Here are some other pictures we took:
Cedric chasing chickens at Joni's
Me, Morgan and Cedric. This was Cedric's first time seeing a horse, he really liked it.
Me, Morgan, Cedric and cute Porter on the fence.
All of those mentioned above plus Ali and Rylee.

Daddy and Cedric hanging out.
Jumping on the tramp with Grandma and cousins. This was his first experience with a tramp and he seemed to really dig the bouncing.
Obviously something was very funny! This trip was so great. We got to see so many family members that we had not seen in a long time. We love you Grandpa and will miss you!!
These are a few pictures I took a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to put on.
Tyson was teaching a surfing lesson and I thought this was so cute. Cedric wanted to do what Dad was doing.
How lucky am I? I have the cutest little boy and the sexiest husband!
I am so sorry to hear about Tyson's grandpa. It sounds like he was such a neat man.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you guys got to visit family and friends...that is one good thing about funerals:)
