For Christmas last year my parents gave us a gift certificate for a night at a hotel in Charleston. We took a much-needed overnight getaway a couple of weeks ago.
We stopped in Pawley's island to say hello to the ocean.
Then we went down to Charleston and took a walk on the suspension bridge there. It was neat to see the harbor from the bridge.
One neat thing I love about Charleston is how the tallest things in the city are the steeples.
This is the hotel. It was built forever ago. It was really neat. I loved all the wood trim.
All the furniture and décor was antique (the surfboard was added by us - that is my trusty surfboard that I love so much).
It was cool, they had a turn down service where they came in and got your bed/room ready to go to sleep and then put chocolate on your pillow. I may begin doing that at home.

We went to dinner and walked around Charleston. It is such a neat place. I love all the old cobblestone walks.
What do you do on a Monday night in Charleston? Ride the free trolley around of course!
We stayed on it to see where it went, but never saw anything we would want to go do, so we went round trip and got off where we got on :)
That turned out to be best because there was a super good gelato place right at the stop.

The next day we woke up and took a nice run around the city. We both love running in a new place and really experiencing the city while running. Plus we had to get that gelato out of our system, haha.
We went down to Folley beach to see if there were waves, but not so much. Super high tide and it was fun to watch the waves crashing on the rocks.
We had such a great time. The only problem with taking trips like this is you never want to go back to reality. We just wanted to grab our kids and hang out every day without having to work or anything!
