The last day of our trip I got to take a trip on one of the so-famous buses.
It was so packed! We had to wake up at 4 a.m. to catch the bus on time. It was quite an adventure. We had to be on the bus for 3 hours and I just happened to pick the seat with the wheel well.
We got to Managua and got off at the bus station. It was at the site of this huge market. It was like a flea market that was on steroids. It was a maze of shops. There were no other tourists there either, so it was a bit scary. We were supposed to meet up with a cab driver the hotel owner set up, but after 2 hours of waiting he still didn't show up. He was supposed to pick us up and take us to a mall so we could spend the day doing something beside hanging out in the airport. Well, since he didn't show and we really didn't trust any other cab driver to take us to any location we didn't know, we decided to take a cab right to the airport. Mind you this was at noon on Saturday and our flight didn't leave until 1 a.m. Sunday morning.
It was actually kinda neat, as Tyson was talking to the cab driver our church somehow came up and he mentioned that his son was LDS. It was cool.
So, we did get to the airport and hung out playing cards and sleeping until our flight left. We met some other Americans who run an organization called Waves of Love that is building a library for the town we were in. Tyson set up with them to have his students help. His students have been looking to get involved in helping Central Americans somehow, so it should work out great.
We got home around noon on Sunday. It was so great to see the kids and be home.
We loved every minute of our 2-week date. Memories that will last a lifetime. For sure the best thing about the trip was eachother's company and the other good people we met.
We are thinking Hawaii is next. Save your money people! The more the merrier!
